The SHIMANO EXSENCE Armajoint 280F Flash Boost is a 280 mm big bait developed for large baitfish patterns where the conventional 190 mm size lacks sufficient appeal, particularly for targeting trophy sea bass feeding on gizzard shad. The jointed bait’s body folds into a compact profile for casting, then returns to its connected-body configuration after landing, with the dedicated plate magnetically semi-secured in place by the Armaboost system. This combines the casting distance of a large, highly air-resistant body with a smooth jointed action once in the water.
Stabilizer fins on the sides of the body help steady the 280 mm lure as it swims. It moves seductively just beneath the surface, while a standard retrieve produces a strong pushing action and presence from the connected body. A fast retrieve imitates fleeing baitfish, while a dead-slow retrieve can portray weakened baitfish; it also supports table-turn actions that take advantage of the jointed body. Flash Boost uses a reflective plate suspended inside the lure on a spring, causing it to respond to lure vibrations and rod movements and continue flashing even while drifting. This floating model measures 280 mm, weighs 135 g, and has a reference diving depth of 0.2 m.
