Megabass MEGADOG is a floating pencil bait designed for monster sea bass that drive large baitfish such as gizzard shad and mullet to the surface before feeding on them. Despite its mega size of 220 mm and 130 g, it offers low retrieve resistance, and simply combining a steady retrieve with pauses produces a long-sliding action that mimics baitfish fleeing in panic. With rod manipulation, it can also create a powerful dog-walk action with strong water displacement, as well as splashing action.
Inside the body is a Double Inertia Balancer System (PAT.) that moves the weight while maintaining the proper distance from the action pivot point. Although it is a large pencil bait, it is designed to deliver a sliding action that is less affected by conditions. The hook eyes use high-strength power swivels integrated with 1.4 mm-diameter stainless-steel through wire. This construction helps prevent hooks from being thrown by the head shakes of large fish and makes it easier to land the fish even if the body is damaged. The standard setup includes three #2/0 hooks and six #5 split rings. When a smaller profile or smaller bait size is desired, the 180 mm, 72 g MEGADOG 180 is available. It features the Double Inertia Balancer System, 1.2 mm-diameter stainless-steel through wire, and three #1 hooks.
