Megabass FUWABUG is a soft bait developed with the image of a “crab,” distinct from hog- and craw-style lures. Designed for the harsh conditions encountered when targeting rockfish, it uses a slightly firm material to ensure durability and resistance to slipping, while its hollow-body construction minimizes the impact of the material’s firmness on hook-setting performance. The hollow interior helps the body stand upright underwater, creating a crab-like posture even when the bait is held stationary.
The thick, oversized arms generate strong water displacement on the lift and move with a kicking action on the fall, stimulating predatory instincts. Ribs placed throughout the body catch water even with minimal line tension, bringing out movement from the arms and legs. The bent legs vibrate in even the slightest current and produce natural action while the bait is stationary. During a slow drag, the legs continue moving to imitate the walking motion of a crustacean. Around rocky shorelines and the edges of breakwaters, it is suited to pitching around cover and fishing it on the fall; around river mouths, it can be slow-dragged with a Direct Rig or jig head. The manufacturer’s recommended hook setups are a No. 1 offset hook or No. 1 jig head for the 2.5-inch model, and a No. 1 or No. 2 jig head for the 1.8-inch model. It is available in 1.8-inch, 2.5-inch, and 3.8-inch sizes.
