DAIWA’s Morethan Lazy BB is designed for situations where fish are keyed in on small baitfish, using the controllability and relatively high density of a sinking pencil to search from the mid-water range to near the bottom. Despite its compact body, it is designed to achieve good casting distance and reach the desired depth easily, even in current. Its action is tuned toward the tighter side, showing a natural tail swing on the retrieve and sinking with a rolling motion on the fall. Rather than attracting fish over a wide area with strong vibration, this sinking pencil makes it easy to present a subtle, low-discomfort retrieve matched to the size and activity level of the bait.
The basic approach is a steady retrieve while working through different depths. In current, it can be drifted downstream while adjusting line tension. Its density also makes it suitable for slowly retrieving it from the mid-water range to near the bottom, as well as searching current seams and drop-offs with a lift-and-fall technique. A range of models with different sizes and specifications is available, including the 75S Hotaruika Tune, allowing fine adjustments to depth and action for small-bait patterns and slow nighttime fishing.
