SMITH’s METAL FORCAST is a flat-profile metal jig designed for shore jigging and boat casting, with a silhouette modeled after the sardines preyed upon by predatory fish. While conventional casting jigs primarily produce a tail-wagging action, the deep cut beneath the head of the METAL FORCAST catches water during the retrieve, generating subtle vibration in the head. Combined with the tail’s wobbling action, this creates a unique movement even on a straight retrieve.
The basic technique is a steady retrieve after casting, making it suitable for situations where target fish are feeding on small baitfish. From shore, it can be cast long distances to search offshore depths, while boat casting allows anglers to present it horizontally with the baitfish silhouette in mind. This model is supplied without hooks; hooks should be attached separately according to the tackle, target species, and presentation method. It is available in 40 g, 60 g, 85 g, 100 g, 120 g, and 150 g versions, allowing casting distance and the range of depths to be explored to be adjusted by weight. In addition, the 120 g size is also available as the METAL FORCAST FL, featuring flash-cut sheets on both sides.
