Gamakatsu’s LUXXE OCEAN ALMEA is a series of baitcasting rods developed by analyzing a variety of targets and fishing conditions in Japanese coastal waters, with each model designed to deliver the sensitivity and controllability required for jigging. The lineup includes models suited to different conditions, such as water depth and current, and offers the sensitivity needed to accurately distinguish bottom materials.
The blanks are constructed from 97% carbon fiber and 3% glass fiber, and all models feature one-piece tubular construction. Titanium and stainless steel guides are used in a design that efficiently transmits input when working a jig. Models with different lengths, powers, and actions, including the B58ML-F and B67M-RF, are available, allowing anglers to choose according to jig weight, water depth, current, and target depth range. The series is suited to a style of fishing in which the jig is dropped with a baitcasting reel and worked by combining one-pitch jerks and falls while utilizing the rod’s rebound and the tip’s ability to follow the jig’s movement.
