SMITH LTD’s SMOKY PK MINNOW is a minnow for rockfish, produced by Natsuo Tsujimoto (Pockin) and developed to let anglers deliberately create opportunities that lead to bites. It is tuned to make the lure’s resistance easy to feel even on a slow retrieve, while swimming with a balanced, not overly aggressive wobbling action. The design makes it easy to monitor the lure’s movement while presenting it slowly, with repeated approaches in mind so as not to scatter the school.
On a fast retrieve, the action changes to a rolling, flashing motion, allowing anglers to vary the retrieve speed and trigger reaction bites. During pauses, it becomes a slow-sinking lure, and giving it a slight amount of slack line makes it backslide, allowing the lure to be shown again to fish that turn away after following it. It is available in two sizes, 38 mm and 42 mm including the Eight-Kan length, and both weigh 2.5 g.
