Smith Chinupen

SMITH’s CHINUPEN is a topwater plug designed to entice black sea bream and yellowfin sea bream, rather than skimming across the surface like a conventional pencil bait. Its strong water displacement and body that stays partially submerged create a powerful wake. The low-buoyancy body is designed to maintain firm contact with the surface, and with short, sharp twitches, it pivots around the tail and swings its head from side to side, generating a pronounced wake. While maintaining a stable action that resists breaking through the surface, it also produces vibrations from changes in water flow around the underwater fin section. Worked at a brisk tempo, it can create splashes, sound, and bubbles. Its flat sides are angled downward, providing a flashing appeal directed into the water.

The CHINUPEN FW features a tungsten weight mounted at the very rear of the body, giving it casting performance that is difficult to imagine from its compact size. Its weight setting allows it to produce its intended action even in low-salinity water, making it suitable for fishing in rivers and brackish areas. A high-pitched glass rattle is built in to add an acoustic attraction. The CHINUPEN T-RUBBER is a tuned model equipped with a tail hook dressed with both long- and short-tail silicone rubber. The rubber tails flutter in sync with the water displacement created by the body, adding a distinctive action even when worked with minimal forward movement. It is primarily worked with short, sharp twitches, incorporating pauses as conditions require.
