Tai rubber (タイラバ) — the Japanese rubber jig technique targeting red sea bream (madai) — has become one of the fastest-growing boat fishing styles in the world. The technique is elegantly simple: a rubber-skirted jig is lowered to the bottom and retrieved at a constant, steady speed, producing a pulsing action from the rubber noodle skirt and curly tail that madai and a wide range of other bottom-dwelling species find irresistible.
