Abu Garcia’s SALTYFIELD is a series of casting rods designed for enjoying a wide range of saltwater lure fishing. Models designed for shore jigging are available for everything from micro/light shore jigging to shore jigging for large pelagic fish, allowing anglers to choose according to their lures and fishing environment.
The spinning model SFS-832ML is 8 ft 3 in long, features ML power and a regular-fast action. It handles lures from 3 to 30 g and is suited not only to micro/light shore jigging, but also to seabass, eging, and light hairtail tenya fishing. The SFS-962M is 9 ft 6 in long, features M power, and handles lures from 7 to 45 g. Centered on light shore jigging, it is also suited to targeting flounder from the surf, seabass, and rockfish. The SFS-1002MH is 10 ft long, features MH power, and handles lures from 20 to 80 g. It is designed for shore jigging for large pelagic fish, surf casting, and targeting sea-run cherry salmon, salmon, and large rockfish.
All models are two-piece spinning rods, with the carbon-to-glass ratio, compatible PE line, and lure weight specified for each model. The SFS-832ML consists of 83% carbon and 17% glass, while the SFS-1002MH consists of 94% carbon and 6% glass, with higher-numbered models designed to cast farther and handle heavier lures. For shore jigging, Abu Garcia officially recommends pairing the SFS-832ML with size 2500–3000 spinning reels, the SFS-962M with size 3000–4000 reels, and the SFS-1002MH with size 4000–5000 reels.
