Reply Chaving Specification Series

Reply’s Chub BOMB, from its chubbing-specific series, was developed to target small fish found in nearby waters while combining chubbing with the distinctive strike scenes of topwater fishing. Its body is based on Reply’s PLA BOMB design and has been finished in a compact size measuring 20.0 mm in length and weighing 1.0 g. This lightweight topwater plug is designed to float on the surface, eliciting fish responses by placing the lure on the water rather than sinking it and working different depths.

The Chub BOMB’s defining features are its hook setup, which has been changed from the base model for chubbing, and the use of a double ring at the connection between the body and hook. The combination of hooks and rings matched to its compact body is designed for surface presentations. Although the manufacturer does not provide detailed official examples of how to work it, the basic approach is to entice fish on the surface as a topwater plug; in areas with current, it can also be used by placing the lure on the surface and waiting for a response. This model is intended to be used with the chubbing-specific hooks and double ring, rather than being returned to the same configuration as the base model by changing the hooks.
