Shimano Cardif Refrain

Shimano's Cardiff Refrain is a series of plug minnow-type lures designed for trout fishing.

The "42S" is a compact slow-sinking lure measuring 42mm, meticulously crafted for perfect balance in small streams. Its lightweight 2.4g high-buoyancy body offers excellent responsiveness to rod movements, allowing for intricate surface presentations in small pocket waters. With a front-centered weight distribution, it interacts with the current immediately upon landing, ensuring that you don't miss opportunities even in situations where the retrieve distance is short.

The "45XS" embodies the high-response performance of the Refrain 50HS in a smaller 45mm size, designed with a heavier 6.2g body. It quickly reaches deep ranges that are difficult to access with standard 50mm sinking or heavy sinking lures, and it can perform agile actions in the core areas where targets are hiding, achieving an unprecedented balance for an extra sinking lure. Its excellent casting distance makes it effective for exploring mid-river areas, and it allows for easy range control in thick, fast currents. It is versatile enough to accommodate various techniques such as straight retrieves, twitches, drifts, and reverse retrieves.

The "50HS" features a basic rolling action. With tungsten weights positioned at the bottom, it maintains a stable swimming action even during twitching in strong currents or reverse retrieves, enticing trout with its flashing. Its slightly rear-weighted design does not compromise casting distance or stability, and during a tension fall, it mimics a sinking baitfish. This sinking posture makes it less likely for trout to detect it after landing.
