Arukazik Japan Mebachoko

Arukazik Japan’s Mebachoko is an ultra-compact diving pencil developed to carefully entice rockfish that are focused on the surface, come to inspect the lure, and then turn away, all while keeping the lure’s travel distance short. Its bite-sized 55mm, 2.8g body features a rear-weighted design for stable long-distance casting. Underwater, it maintains a vertical floating posture. A light “choko” twitch of the rod tip makes it dive gently once, followed by a distinctive dive-and-rise action as it slowly wobbles back toward the surface. During the rise, it produces a natural vibration while being moved by the waves, allowing you to continue working it enticingly over a short distance.

To use it, first let the lure settle into the water after landing, then apply an extremely light twitch with the rod tip. There is no need to keep moving it after the initial dive; once it rises, pause for 5–10 seconds—or longer depending on the conditions—to entice fish near the surface while giving the lure time to work. The key is to avoid overworking it and keep its travel distance short with light rod movements. This is a floating type, equipped with size #12 hooks front and rear.
