MARUJIN’s UK BIGPEN 150F is a floating pencil bait designed for fish that prey on relatively large baitfish such as gizzard shad and Japanese scaled sardines. Measuring 150mm and weighing 43g, it produces vibrations said to rival those of large 200mm-class pencil baits. Its stable action is easy to achieve for everyone from experienced anglers to beginners, and it is designed for easy control with PE line.

Rather than using a bowed body shape, the lure features a purpose-designed profile that does not taper excessively toward the rear. This helps prevent excessive side-to-side movement and reduces the risk of the head dipping underwater and disrupting the action, while taking advantage of PE line’s low resistance to produce a smooth surface presentation. The bone material and forward-positioned tungsten rattle generate a high-pitched rattle sound that makes it easier to keep track of the retrieve rhythm, even during night fishing. The basic technique is to point the rod straight toward the lure and work it with a reel-driven digital retrieve. The lure produces its action when retrieved at a steady rhythm without winding too quickly. It is equipped with two SAMURAI HOOK #1/0 treble hooks, a configuration designed to reduce damage to fish compared with the three-hook setup commonly used on large pencil baits. If necessary, adding a 2g weight sticker beneath the chin allows the action to be tuned for a stronger lateral slide.
