HOT'S KEIKO OCEAN ATTUMA is a floating pencil designed for big-game casting, developed through extensive testing throughout Japan as the tenth entry in the KEIKO OCEAN series. It features a distinctive form combining broad, flat sides with a tapered tail, and measures 190 mm and weighs 60 g.
With a jerking retrieve, it darts from side to side below the surface to attract target fish. On a straight retrieve, it wobbles just beneath the surface while creating a wake, and maintains a diagonal posture relative to the water’s surface when paused. For tuna, the officially recommended technique is a stop-and-go retrieve incorporating a pause of several seconds; for greater amberjack, continue reeling while adding short rod-tip jerks. The body is made from highly buoyant natural wood with minimal variation in specific-gravity balance, and is handcrafted by master lure maker Hideyuki Tanaka. Strength is ensured by a 1.6 mm wire-through construction designed to withstand large fish. The lure is supplied without hooks, and size 2/0 heavy-wire treble hooks are recommended. Due to the characteristics of natural wood, buoyancy and weight may vary slightly from one lure to another.
