LONGIN’s HI-STANDARD is a saltwater minnow designed to set a new standard for minnow lures, combining long casting distance with precise depth control. The representative HI-STANDARD 120S is designed to cast farther and run one level deeper than the floating 120F, allowing anglers to reach fish that are difficult to approach with the 120F.
With the lip positioned at the very front of the body and the top eye attached directly to the lip, the lure quickly catches water and achieves a fast-starting swimming action. A fin keel beneath the lip moderately suppresses rolling and produces a tight wobble-roll action that blends rolling and wobbling in equal measure. When the lure loses balance due to changes in current, water strikes the fin keel to generate a sliding action, adding an irregular movement. The 120S is designed to search the 40–120 cm depth range consistently. Its weight-transfer system moves three tungsten balls toward the tail during the cast, while the body shape, designed with airflow in mind, and the fin keel stabilize the lure’s flight posture. The basic technique is a steady retrieve, allowing anglers to take advantage of action changes caused by variations in current and retrieve speed. The 120S measures 120 mm and weighs 21 g, with replacement hooks in size #5 recommended. The floating 120F weighs 19 g, while the larger HI-STANDARD 150 is a 150 mm, 34 g floating model recommended for use with #3 hooks and #4 split rings.
