Suzuki Ikazuno Straightener

Suzuki Co., Ltd.’s Ika Nao-chan is a squid-jig straightener developed for quickly reshaping the prongs of a squid jig’s crown that have been bent open after hooking fish such as mackerel. The jig is inserted and removed through one of three round holes to restore its shape, allowing the crown to be corrected without using pliers. By selecting the appropriate hole size, it accommodates squid jigs used for Japanese flying squid, spear squid, red squid, spear squid, and oval squid, and can be used with both single and double crowns.

The body can be attached to a holder or clamped onto the gunwale, allowing the squid jig to be repaired on the spot when the rig is retrieved. Screw holes are provided for installation on either the right or left side of the holder. During use, pass the opened squid jig through the appropriately sized hole to reshape the crown. This practical accessory simplifies crown repair when it opens during squid fishing, reducing the time and effort required before redeploying the rig.
