Supplies’ Sugi Pop Slim 180 is a floating popper designed for bluefin and yellowfin tuna, featuring a pop, bubbles, and a slim body to create a baitfish-oriented presentation. Measuring 180 mm and weighing 77 g, its size is well suited to baitfish such as flying fish and sardines, and it is also suitable for casting to surface-feeding fish.
The basic approach is to start with a longer retrieve. When the lure is pulled, its body wavers while becoming enveloped in bubbles, creating a surface presentation that stretches out the bubble trail. When moving on to the next rod action, wait until the lure has fully resurfaced before working the rod, allowing you to combine popping and surfacing in a single presentation. The standard hook setup is SPXH #3/0. Note that if the fish thrashes after landing and strikes the hull, it may cause damage, so care is required when handling the fish after bringing it aboard.
