OSP’s FAKIE is an easy-to-use metal jig developed primarily for sea bass (Japanese seabass) jigging in Tokyo Bay. Designed with a compact body and an extremely rear-weighted center of gravity, it reaches the target depth quickly. On the lift, its tapered body catches the current and produces a wobbling action, while on the fall, it sinks in a tail-first spiral. The contrasting actions on the lift and fall, combined with the flash from its diamond-cut body, provide strong visual appeal.

The basic approach is to let the jig fall to the target depth, then work it with lifts or a steady retrieve. The standard model is available in 45g, 60g, and 80g sizes, making it suitable for a variety of light jigging applications, including sea bass jigging, hairtail, pelagic fish, and bottom fish. An assist hook is fitted as standard at the rear, allowing it to be used with only the rear hook. In areas with rough structure, such as those fished with SLJ, it is also designed to be rigged with the front and rear positions reversed. The separately available FAKIE Tachiuo is a model designed for hairtail jigging, featuring a compact, thick-bodied silhouette and a rear-weighted center of gravity to maintain a fast fall speed. Available in 100g, 130g, and 160g sizes, it can be worked with a steady retrieve or a gentle one-pitch jerk.
