Skagit Designs Hyde Shallow

SKAGIT DESIGNS’ HideShallow is a shallow runner designed to combine long-casting performance with strong water displacement and appeal, allowing anglers to search a wide area of shallow water. This 120 mm, 20 g floating model can be controlled in the 30–90 cm depth range by adjusting rod movements and retrieve speed. Its swimming action remains stable even in strong currents, making it easy to use in fast-flowing areas such as surf zones around rocky shores, the backwash on sandy beaches, and the main channels of rivers.

It can be used with a basic steady retrieve, during which it produces an irregular action that continues with frequent, subtle movements. When allowing the lure to drift into the current, you can adjust the target depth by changing the rod angle and retrieve speed. It can also be used by quietly enticing fish in the current, then adding rod input to change the action. Depending on the salinity of the water, it may become slow-sinking even though it is designed as a floating lure. This minnow is well suited to situations where you want to keep the lure moving through shallow water at a consistent depth while varying its action according to changes in current strength.
