Shimano OCEA Screw Drive 180F

The Shimano OCEA SCREW DRIVE 180F is a floating pencil designed for offshore casting, targeting surface appeal through “sound and bubbles”—a presentation distinct from that of diving pencils and poppers. Equipped with a prop fin at the rear of the body, it generates bubbles and sound as the prop catches and rotates through the water, imitating fleeing baitfish. Designed for SW big-game fishing, it achieves high strength with a wire running through the body. Through adjustments to the body shape and weight balance, it pursues a stable flight posture despite being a prop-equipped lure.

By positioning the weight at the rear of the body, the prop fin is structured to catch the water consistently, helping prevent action errors even in rough water and allowing the lure to maintain its movement on the surface. On a steady retrieve, it travels stably across the surface while producing a “poko-poko” sound, while short jerks create a popping action accompanied by bubbles and sound. The included prop fins are interchangeable in two sizes: Normal and Large. The Normal size is suited to high-speed retrieves and nonstop jerks, while the Large size is suited to slow steady retrieves and a stronger presentation with limited travel distance. It measures 180 mm in length and weighs 114 g. Hooks are not included; the manufacturer recommends size #3/0 hooks, or size #8 rings when used without rings.
