Shimano’s OCEA TUNGMAN is a metal jig designed for super-light jigging. Made from high-density tungsten, it combines a compact profile with a fast fall. Its water-catching flat body and front-weighted balance ensure a fast fall while allowing the jig to quickly turn sideways after a jerk and assume a horizontal position. After briefly hovering horizontally, it transitions into a random fall that disrupts its trajectory by pressing the side of the body against the water, enticing fish while swinging the assist hook during the fall. The short body makes it easy to limit vertical travel with short jerks, allowing anglers to thoroughly work a narrow depth range.
The line eye and hook eye are positioned with a wide separation to help maintain a horizontal posture when an assist hook is attached. The recommended Type LJ Assist Hook sizes are SS to M, with a setup designed to minimize interference from the knot ring and hook on the jig’s action. During a steady retrieve, it produces a spoon-like wobbling action, while changes in retrieve speed also generate a sliding action. It can be used for casting applications with a rear hook attached and for blade tuning. When fitted with a blade, its design helps maintain a stable posture even during high-speed retrieves.
