SHIMANO’s SEPHIA CLINCH LONG APPEAL JET BOOST is an egi designed to combine a shallow-type slow fall with long-casting performance, giving anglers more distance and time to appeal to large springtime bigfin reef squid and wary squid. The 3.0-size QE-Z30W has an average casting distance of 49 m and a sink rate of approximately 4.2 seconds per meter, while the 3.5-size model has an average casting distance of 52 m and a sink rate of approximately 7.4 seconds per meter.

The JET BOOST weight-transfer system supports the weight with a through shaft and spring, combining high initial casting speed, stable flight posture, and a quick swimming start after splashdown. Just before entering the water, the weight returns to its swimming position, allowing the egi to sink with a stable posture. Unlike conventional shallow-type egis, which limit darting performance for slow falls, this model responds exceptionally well to rod movements and handles continuous darts produced by short, rhythmic rod lifts, as well as sharp vertical jerks.

It also features FLASH BOOST, in which an internal reflective plate continues to swing and flash during the fall and while paused, along with SCALE BOOST, a multi-pitch hologram designed to replicate the scales of baitfish. After a long cast, the basic presentation is to entice squid with darting action and trigger them to strike with a stable slow fall. It is suited to fishing shallow areas, weed beds, and breaks or current seams that are difficult to reach with conventional egis.
