Shimano OCEA Six Side

SHIMANO’s OCEA SIXSIDE is a metal jig designed to trigger fish responses with the reaction generated by its fast fall, allowing anglers to efficiently search the mid-water column. It features a compact, six-sided flat-body design with a 6:4 rear-weighted balance. The body smoothly deflects water, quickly turns sideways during a jerk, and makes a short slide. It then momentarily freezes to create a brief horizontal pause before transitioning into the fall, suppressing excessive flutter and lateral movement. Its straightforward sinking trajectory makes it easy to target specific depths from a boat.

The basic technique is a one-pitch jerk, with the action adjusted by varying the jerk length. The jig is designed to provide a certain amount of resistance during the retrieve, allowing anglers to load it with current and water, slow it down, and work it so the rear kicks upward. If it feels too heavy during operation, the recommended adjustments are to use a heavier-power rod or increase the reel’s retrieve speed. Flashing from the different faces of its six-sided body, combined with the complex reflections of SCALE BOOST, which reproduces the scale pattern of baitfish, adds visual variation even to subtle actions. The lineup ranges from 100 to 200 g, from JV-X10W to JV-X20W, with the JV-X18W measuring 143 mm in length and weighing 180 g. The color lineup is designed with species such as cutlassfish and cherry salmon in mind.
