SHIMANO OCEA Nylon Casting Leader is a shock leader designed for saltwater casting, utilizing the characteristic suppleness and moderate stretch of nylon while minimizing power loss during hooksets. Two types of high-molecular-weight nylon resin are blended and strengthened through proprietary spinning technology. With a design that suppresses initial elongation, it helps maintain the connection to the lure and absorb the load during hooksets, even when casting with a strong drag setting or fishing topwater lures. As it approaches its breaking limit, it stretches moderately and holds firm, cushioning the impact on the tackle caused by sudden strikes and powerful runs.

Its high transparency, achieved through the use of highly pure materials, is another key feature, with a clear color that resists clouding. For the thicker sizes of No. 18 and above, the resin formulation and specialized heat treatment after molding enhance flexibility, resulting in a finish that is resistant to impact and difficult to flatten. LA-A31U is available in 50 m spools in sizes No. 10–40, while the thicker sizes No. 50–80 are offered as LA-A21U in 30 m spools.
