Shimano Sephia BB Tip Eging

SHIMANO’s Sephia BB Tip Eging is a standard model designed to achieve a well-balanced combination of egi control, visual sensitivity for detecting bites, and stable control after the hook set—all essential for tip eging. Based on SHIMANO’s traditional action, it is designed with an “R” action, combining a flexible tip-to-belly section that makes it easy to move heavy-weight egi as intended with the butt power needed to handle the jet-propelled runs of large bigfin reef squid.

The blanks feature the reinforced Hi-Power X construction, which suppresses twisting generated during casting, jerking, and fights. This helps reduce unwanted movement and sluggishness when operating the rod, making it easier to control the egi with stability. Depending on the model, the solid tip is equipped with either TAFTEC α or TAFTEC. The ML models feature a supple, delicate bend, while the M models offer a crisp, highly sensitive action. All models are two-piece rods with a center-cut spigot joint, making them easy to transport.

The lineup consists of the short R-S511ML-S, along with 6 ft 6 in and 7 ft ML and M models. The R-S66ML-S is a maneuverable technical model focused on delicacy, suited to relatively shallow ranges and agile presentations. The 7 ft models make it easier to maintain stable egi movement and posture even in strong waves or wind, while the M models are designed for deeper ranges and quick, aggressive presentations compared with the ML models.
