SHIMANO’s GAME TYPE J spinning rods are designed to achieve an ideal balance of responsiveness, power, and light weight for jigging primarily targeting blue-backed fish, while enhancing the jerk performance needed to control the jig precisely. The high-rebound blank is finished with a slim profile and designed to bend smoothly throughout the rod before quickly recovering, delivering an action that makes it easier to transmit power to the jig while reducing the effort required during jerks. Centered on the basic medium-speed one-pitch jerk, the rod also handles combination jerks with speed variations ranging from slow to high. The blank incorporates SHIMANO’s original Spiral X Core technology to suppress twisting and wobble. Despite its grip-joint two-piece construction, it is designed to achieve the bend and strength of a one-piece rod.

The spinning lineup includes the S64-1 for light inshore jigging targeting blue-backed fish, the S64-2 for easy handling of jigs in the 100–160 g class, the S60-3 for nimble operation with its 6-foot length, and the S64-3 for a wide range of jerking techniques. The S510-4 and S62-4 are power models designed for areas with fast currents and drift fishing, while the S510-5, S56-6, S56-7, and S53-8 offer progressively higher-power options for heavy loads and deep-water fishing. Spinning models in powers 1 through 5 feature lightweight, high-strength CI4+ reel seats, while powers 6 through 8 use Fuji DPS20 reel seats.
