Tenryu Red Flip

TENRYU’s Red Flip is a light-game series designed for enjoying tai rubber and tai jigging, with red sea bream as the primary target. The lineup includes models suited to various fishing styles—including vertical, do-tara, long, and casting techniques—based on differences in boat drifting methods, water depth, and hook-setting approaches. Each model is designed to allow anglers to choose between “nosé” (letting the fish load the rod), quick hook-setting, and delayed hook-setting techniques according to the conditions.

The blanks use TENRYU’s Magnaflex construction and a tubular structure with the carbon elasticity adjusted for each model. Nosé models feature low-elasticity carbon in the tip and primarily medium-elasticity carbon from the midsection to the butt, producing a supple, responsive action that helps prevent missed bites. Hook-setting models use medium-elasticity carbon in the tip and primarily high-elasticity carbon from the midsection to the butt, providing the power needed for proactive hook-setting. Carbon nanotube material is composited into the butt section to enhance strength and toughness. The RF642B-L/VDN is a deep-water model designed for vertical fishing to depths of 100 m with 45–120 g weights, while the RF642B-M/VDK handles 60–180 g and is also intended for deep-water use; the former is designed for the nosé technique, while the latter is suited to quick and delayed hook-setting. The RF772B-L/LN is a long model with an extended blank that absorbs the boat’s movement and facilitates stable retrieve control even in complex currents. Baitcasting models feature a PULS seat designed for a comfortable grip, while the reel seat section uses a Nishijin-ori carbon pipe. Underhand casting is recommended when casting.
