Mangrove Studio Malibu

Mangrove Studio’s Malibu is a sinking-p minnow designed to maintain a consistent depth and stable tracking line while retaining the long-casting performance and subtle action of a sinking pencil. It minimizes the rising and wandering action often associated with conventional sinking pencils. Its design provides easy-to-feel resistance during the retrieve, while its stable flight posture helps reduce deviation in the landing point, making it suitable for repeated casts to the same spot.

The Malibu 78 is a 78 mm, 11.8 g sinking model. Its lip helps suppress unnecessary rising and wandering, establishing an effective range from near the surface to approximately 80 cm deep. The basic technique is a slow retrieve, with the depth adjusted by varying the retrieve speed and rod-tip position. A deeper range can also be explored by counting down after the lure lands before beginning the retrieve. Rather than simply scaling the body up or down, the 68 mm, 78 mm, and 92 mm models each feature size-specific body lines and weight distribution. The standard hook size for the Malibu 78 is #6.
