Mangrove Studio Volador

Mangrove Studio’s Volador Sinking is a heavy-weight wood plug designed for casting to surface-feeding fish. Its low center of gravity and flat belly help it maintain a stable posture while sinking horizontally, on splashdown, and in conditions affected by wind, current, and line slack. It also features a slightly downward-facing flat surface designed with the silhouette seen by fish in mind. The sharply tapered nose cuts cleanly through the water, while the design allows the lure to respond quickly to rod work when used with a PE-line tackle setup.

The series includes models with different sink rates and weight distributions. The Level Sinking (LS) model achieves long-casting performance with its slim body, which creates little resistance, and its weight balance. It produces a fall that resembles baitfish drifting through the water while maintaining a stable flight posture and swimming balance. The Long Distance (LD) model is loaded with as much weight as possible to maximize casting distance and is designed to work well with tackle using PE 6 or heavier, which is more susceptible to the effects of wind and current. The 130LD measures 130 mm in length and weighs 65 g (±3 g). The recommended hook size is 1/0 in the Owner ST-66 class, with 100 lb split rings. Installing a front hook one size larger can be used to set the lure for a nose-down fall. For offshore fishing targeting tuna, dorado, and other pelagic game fish, the LS and LD models can be selected according to the location of the feeding activity, wind direction, and tackle being used.
