Decoy (katsuichi) AS-03 Pike

DECOY’s Pike (AS-03) is an assist hook designed for light-tackle jigging, allowing anglers to achieve smooth, fast hooksets with minimal force. Developed under the supervision of Koichi Kubo, it combines a fine-wire shank with a wide gape while pursuing strong hook-bend strength that belies its slim profile and secure holding power after the hookset.

The hook point features a fine, long taper and precisely tuned point angle for easy penetration into a fish’s mouth. CF processing is applied to the hook bend to ensure strength despite the fine-wire shank and wide gape. In addition, reinforced flattened sections are applied to the two high-stress curves to increase shank strength, while the barb is designed larger to help reduce hook loss. The surface features highly corrosion-resistant tin plating and Aqua Block treatment for saltwater use.

Designed for light jigging both from shore and offshore, this model is intended for use as an assist hook on jigs. Taking advantage of the quick penetration of its fine-wire design and the holding power of its wide gape, it is easy to incorporate into light-tackle jigging hook setups, from fast retrieves to presentations that include a fall. Offered as a single hook, it is also used on the Twin Pike DJ-88.
