Daiwa Mebaru Hunter

Daiwa’s MEBARU HUNTER is a basic minnow for light-game plug fishing targeting rockfish (mebaru), designed around the tight-rolling action considered effective for mebaru. Equipped with heavy-wire hooks on a 50 mm body, it features a high-strength design that makes it easier to handle larger fish such as sea bass when they strike while targeting mebaru.

The lineup includes the floating 50F, which is easy to fish near the surface, and the sinking 50S, designed for slightly deeper ranges, fast-flowing areas, and situations where you want to increase casting distance into a headwind. The standard weight is 2.3 g for the 50F and 2.5 g for the 50S, and both come equipped with #14 treble hooks as standard. The basic approach with the 50F is to retrieve it at approximately one handle rotation per second, slowly enticing mebaru near the surface. When probing layers below the surface or fishing in conditions affected by current or wind, choose the 50S and allow it to sink to the desired depth before retrieving. The two-type lineup allows you to select between different buoyancies according to the target depth and conditions.
