SMITH’s D-CONTACT110 is a minnow developed for targeting sea-run char from harbors and surf, large trout in rivers, sea bass, and other fish in distant or deep main-current zones, taking advantage of the casting distance and sinking performance unique to a heavy-sinking lure. Its 110 mm, 26 g body houses a fixed-position, high-density tungsten weight. The low-center-of-gravity balance makes it easy to cast even into a headwind and allows it to quickly reach the desired depth after hitting the water.

During a steady retrieve, it produces a wobbling-and-rolling swim action. When twitched or jerked, it generates an “inertia slide,” moving forward while recovering its posture as its action momentarily loosens. This change from deliberate action to a slow-speed presentation triggers bites. It maintains its grip on the water and is less prone to losing its swimming action even in complex swells, while its flat sides provide strong flash appeal. The weight is designed for silent operation, making it less likely to alert target fish. It can be worked with a combination of steady retrieves, twitches, and jerks, and its fixed-weight design and overall weight enable long casts for direct approaches to distant main currents and deep water. The standard hooks are fluorocarbon-coated treble hooks, size #3.
