Smith CB Nagamasa

SMITH’s CB. Nagamasa is a long jig designed with a long, flat body and center balance to entice fish with an extended horizontal slide during the fall. Its laser edge back allows the long flat surface of the body to catch water, creating a long, flat-sided sliding action as the jig falls with the line tension released. The knife edge along the back cuts through the water during upward jerks, contributing to a darting, swimming action. The laser edge back design also provides excellent water penetration and a smooth feel with reduced resistance during retrieval.

The basic technique is to make a short cast and let the jig reach the bottom, then slowly retrieve while lifting the rod tip by approximately 30 cm, intentionally creating line slack to give the jig time to slide. Rather than high-speed, short-pitch jerks, it is better suited to a slow-speed presentation that minimizes line tension during the fall and allows the jig to move freely. When dropping the jig to the desired depth, apply only slight tension by lightly pinching the line instead of letting it fall completely free. This helps reduce line trouble caused by current or wind while also allowing you to respond to bites during the fall. The 180 g model measures 215 mm in length, while the 200 g model measures 230 mm. The standard specification is supplied without hooks.
