DEPPY from DEPP TOKYO is a floating plug designed for topwater presentations, developed around the concept that “because it is a lure, it should be easy for bass to eat.” On the surface, it adopts a head-down posture with the head submerged, directing the bass’s attention toward the head—the easiest part to target—and allowing anglers to approach fish that do not fully rise to the surface. Its 60 mm, 3 g body features a V-shaped cross section that imitates a dying wakasagi (Japanese smelt), along with aluminum flash concentrated at a single point. It is equipped with a tinsel tail and also features long casting distance enabled by its center-of-gravity design.

The line eye is positioned not at the head, but at the same location as the tinsel tail, allowing the line to be blended into the tinsel to minimize its presence. When left stationary in calm conditions or used for close-range sight fishing, the Line Arch System draws the leader across the surface in an arc, enabling presentations with reduced line visibility. In addition to a steady retrieve, it is suited to surface presentations that incorporate pauses, allowing anglers to respond to follows that end without a strike and to fish with wary, pressured bass in mind. The manufacturer recommends PE line in sizes 0.3–0.6 with a 1.5–1.7 m fluorocarbon leader in sizes 1–1.75. The recommended hook is the RYUGI PIERCE TREBLE DAGGER #10, paired with a JACKALL OVAL RING (S).
