Teckel’s WHACKER is a frog lure developed to emphasize drawing out its action through angler input. It is not the type that can be worked easily right from the start; with repeated practice in rod manipulation and adjusting line slack, it produces a unique side-to-side head-shaking action. The 70 mm, 15 g body is fitted with a rubber skirt, combining a strong presence on the water with excellent maneuverability.
Once you get the hang of it, the WHACKER can be made to shake its head from side to side in place while keeping forward movement to a minimum, creating an action that pushes water outward with the cheeks on both sides of the body. Short rod inputs produce popping, while continuous manipulation can incorporate spitting to entice fish. It is well suited for keeping the lure in place and working it around cover or over targeted spots. Rather than simply moving it at a steady rhythm, you can vary the action by changing the strength and timing of your inputs.
