Professor Soaring Shad 2

Professor’s Soaring Shad II is a fast-moving topwater soft bait developed for fish that chase down and feed on small baitfish swimming at high speed near the surface, and for bass that inspect and reject lures in clear view. Its body combines a non-salt upper section with a high-density material containing clear salt in the lower section, providing a stable posture and long casting distance. Ribs on the underside create stronger vibrations than a flat surface and also serve as a guide for inserting a nail sinker. The short-bodied design, with its shortened tail, is intended for fish that intercept and feed on small baitfish at the point where they splash down after jumping into the air, while also taking hook-up ratios into consideration.

When used with a Soaring Rig for topwater applications, the Soaring Shad II produces an irregular side-to-side roll-jumping action when properly rigged. Because spinning underwater compromises its intended action, it is important to check both the rigging and retrieve technique. The 1.8-inch model has a specific gravity close to that of water, making it suitable for Carolina rigs that take advantage of its falling posture. Rig the hook slightly behind the tip of the head, inserting it through only a thin layer of the body so the bait remains straight. Insert the nail sinker forward from the second line from the rear on the underside, between the first and second ribs. Available sizes are 1.8 inches, 2.3 inches, and 3.1 inches.
