issei’s Bulky Spatula 2.8in is a bass-oriented refinement of the Umitaro Bulky Spatula, originally developed for targeting big horse mackerel by adding bulk to the standard straight worm, Spatula. Its defining feature is a deeply ribbed body that differs from the original Spatula. The ribs grip the water to create an alluring water flow. Despite its substantial body and the water displacement generated by the ribs, it is designed as a finesse straight worm and can be used with a wide range of rigs.
Recommended rigs include the drop-shot rig, split-shot rig, weightless rig, and jighead rig. It is easy to adapt to different presentations depending on the rig, including working it near the bottom or letting it drift through the midwater, and is suited to presentations that take advantage of the water flow created by the ribs.
