Megabass DARK SLEEPER is a bottom-oriented swimbait designed to imitate baitfish holding close to the bottom. Its back fin guard structure conceals the hook point with a dorsal fin, helping keep the hook from contacting structure. This design makes it easier to work the bait tightly around cover, while the soft fin is compressed during a bite to help avoid interfering with hooksets.
An internal low-center-of-gravity weight and pectoral balancer, which spreads out like pectoral fins, help prevent the bait from rolling onto its side when it reaches the bottom or moves along it, maintaining a stable, baitfish-like posture. It falls in a nose-down position, and the paddle tail produces action even during a slow retrieve. The basic presentation is bottom bouncing: allow the bait to free-fall after the cast, then work it with shakes followed by a slow drag along the bottom. It can also be retrieved just above the bottom to make it swim slightly off the bottom. The 2.4-inch size is intended for small baitfish, clear water, and highly pressured conditions, while the 3-inch size is suited to stained water or situations where a more substantial profile is desired. Weights are 1/4 oz and 3/8 oz for the 2.4-inch model, and 3/8 oz, 1/2 oz, and 3/4 oz for the 3-inch model.
