Heddon Chuggin Spook

Heddon’s Chug’n Spook is a topwater pencil lure designed to combine the walking action of a Spook-style lure with the chugging and splashing of a cupped mouth. It maintains the side-to-side walk-the-dog action typical of Spook-style lures, while the cupped face catches water during the retrieve and throws a splash forward. A large one-knocker rattle inside the body produces a distinctive sound. Its defining feature is the combination of lateral surface action with the water displacement and sound generated by the cupped face.

The model is X9556, measuring 4 7/8 inches in length and weighing 1 ounce. The freshwater version is equipped with #2-size XCalibur Tx3 hooks. To work the lure, begin with short, rhythmic rod-tip twitches to make it glide from side to side in a walking action. Increasing the intensity of the rod movement brings out the chugging and splashing from the cupped face.
