HMKL K-0 Wake Minnow

The HMKL K-0 WAKEMINNOW is a topwater minnow designed to move across the surface without diving on the retrieve, creating a wake as it travels. Its distinctive swimming action, centered around a rolling motion, produces a wake that differs from that of a shallow-retrieved crankbait. It is designed for fish focused on the surface, as well as situations in which fish are feeding on the surface but are reluctant to respond to conventional lures.

A tungsten weight is positioned in the rear of the body to ensure good casting distance, and in some models, contact between the weight and the body, synchronized with the rolling action, produces a regular metronome-like sound. The basic technique is a slow, straight retrieve, making the lure roll sluggishly across the surface like a weakened baitfish. Official guidance for the K-0 WAKEMINNOW 60 also recommends adding rod action to work it like an insect lure. The lineup includes sizes 60, 75, 95, and 115, with the 115 being an upsized version based on the 95. While maintaining its wide rolling action, it offers a broader range of effective retrieve speeds, from ultra-slow to medium. The larger rear weight improves casting performance, while the change from two hooks to three improves hook-up performance.
