Bagley’s Diving Balsa B is a deep-diving crankbait designed primarily to reach fish holding in deep water quickly. Its relatively large body and weighted lip allow it to dive at a steep angle, targeting fish positioned around drop-offs and along deep shorelines.
It features the strong wobbling action generated by its balsa body, along with a powerful movement created as the lip pushes water. The body uses Bagley’s proprietary HCM (Heat Compression Molding) process, in which balsa wood is heated, compressed, and molded. This makes it easier to position the internal weight precisely while pursuing improved castability and a stable swimming action. Its full wire-through construction, with wire running through the inside of the body, also provides strength for use with modern tackle.
The basic presentation is to retrieve it at a moderate speed after casting, taking advantage of its rapid dive to reach the target depth. Around drop-offs, send it into the depth where suspended fish are holding; over rocky bottoms, retrieve it while allowing the lip to contact the bottom to bring out its distinctive balsa action. It is intended to be selected according to the size and diving range specified for each model, such as the Diving B2.
