NORIES TOUGH BUG is a subtle, finesse-oriented topwater plug developed as a “tough-time popper” for targeting the surface in high-pressure conditions. Its weight is easy to handle with baitcasting tackle, while its design allows for pinpoint casts with reduced splashdown noise, enticing wary fish at the surface.
Featuring a buoyant, silent design, it floats with its tail submerged. In addition to a tight dog-walk action with limited forward movement, incorporating dives produces natural popping sounds and splashes. The TOUGH BUG 65 measures 64 mm in length and weighs 8.8 g, making it suitable for both baitcasting and spinning tackle. When meticulously working pinpoint spots, it is effective to impart a walking action with short rod movements after splashdown, adding pops or dives as needed. The series also includes the TOUGH BUG BIG 80, which is designed for use with heavier tackle and features eyelets compatible with double-hook tuning for working cover. When replacing the hooks on the 65, the manufacturer’s parts list specifies a size 6 hook for the front and a size 6 feathered hook for the rear.
