DAIWA’s FUKU UO is a jointed lure designed to minimize forward travel, a key consideration when fishing big baits, allowing repeated presentations within a short range. In bass fishing, where the outcome is often decided within 1 m of the lure landing, it is designed to walk the dog easily from side to side with subtle rod inputs, making it easy to handle even for anglers who are not accustomed to fishing big baits. The large lip grips the water and acts as a brake, while the wide joint angle creates an action in which the body swings its head directly from side to side. The feathered hook also helps limit forward travel by catching water and promoting deceleration.

The hook eyes feature SAKUSAS swivels, allowing the hooks to follow the fish’s movements when it thrashes and helping reduce losses caused by hook twisting. The large lip protects the hooks, and the use of short-shank hooks helps reduce snags around cover. The feathered hook is designed to be easily inhaled during a bite, balancing snag resistance with solid hook penetration. The basic technique is a rod-worked walk-the-dog action, making the lure well suited to methodically working a confined area without moving it too far. The FUKU UO measures 118 mm and weighs 42.5 g, equipped with a size 1 hook on the front and a size 2 hook on the rear, making it larger than the Chibi FUKU UO in the same series.
