SMITH’s POLUNGA is a soft lure designed to generate multiple points of attraction not only during retrieves but also while paused. Its body has a slightly rearward center of gravity and is paired with 24 tentacles, each featuring a spherical tip. The POLUNGA 40 measures 40 mm in length, weighs 4 g, and is a sinking, silent model. Despite its compact body, it features a high number of tentacles, creating a noticeable presence as it falls, stays in place, or moves underwater in response to rod manipulation. A high-specific-gravity salt-in material provides weight and sinking performance, while the lure is made with a material formulated with a crustacean attractant. A slit on the back makes it easy to rig with an offset hook and also accommodates a weedless setup with the hook point concealed in the body.

It can be used with jig heads, weightless rigs, Carolina rigs, and other setups. When rigged on a jig head, the tentacles work to envelop the entire body, creating a silhouette similar to a rubber jig. With an offset hook, concealing the hook point in the body makes the lure well suited for casting around cover. The official catalog describes it as designed to appeal to fish both during the action and on the pause. Depending on the rig, techniques such as lift-and-fall retrieves or holding the lure near the bottom can bring out its distinctive tentacle action.
