SMITH’s STICKY 0 is a minnow-type pencil bait developed around the concept of deliberately moving away from a minnow-like appearance while still providing convincing minnow-like performance when worked. Measuring 105 mm and weighing 12.5 g, this floating lure produces long slides from side to side, with its action adjustable to shorter slides through rod manipulation.
Working it softly with plenty of line slack makes it more likely to slide, while applying stronger input to the line causes it to dive underwater, then swim from side to side with a writhing body as it rises, creating an irregular action. When fish are reluctant to strike on the surface, incorporating dives provides an effective change of pace. To emphasize its minnow-like movement, connection with a free knot is recommended, as it places fewer restrictions on the range of motion caused by the knot. This reissued model from the Hattries series allows anglers to alternate between surface sliding and diving according to their manipulation.
