SMITH’s CATAPY II and CATAPY CLICKER II are noisy plugs designed to make the lure’s position and action easy to track even in low-light conditions, such as after dusk, while emphasizing a strong surface presence with a basic steady-retrieve presentation. The CATAPY II features a regular “pop, pop” sound generated by its metal lip (cup), along with an action that rolls the body widely from side to side to move water. Its action is easy to feel through the rod and is designed to be fished primarily with a steady retrieve. It is a floating model measuring 68 mm in length, weighing 16.7 g, and featuring a non-rattle design.

Based on the CATAPY II’s basic construction, the CATAPY CLICKER II features an internal brass rattle. Its bone-material body produces a high-pitched rattle sound, while the metal cup has a plated finish that adds a flashing effect. It can be used alongside the non-rattle CATAPY II when additional sound and flash are desired, such as in choppy surface conditions, around inflows, or during high water. Both models feature double hooks for improved snag resistance and are equipped with #1 hooks. A commercially available 2.9 mm diameter Chemi-Hotaru light can be installed in the eyelet or head hole, making it easier for the angler to track the lure’s position and action at night.
