Gary Yamamoto Back Slide Hog

Gary Yamamoto’s Back Slide Hog is a 3-inch hog-style worm designed around a weightless backsliding action. Its flattened body shape and component balance have been carefully refined to produce a stable sliding distance underwater. After the cast, the entire body maintains its posture as it falls backward, making it easy to use when you need to send the lure deep along the bank or around cover.

It is primarily used on a weightless rig, with the hook inserted from the belly side of the worm. The body thickness and component placement stabilize its posture during the fall, while after landing, it can be fed into cover with the line kept from becoming overly tight, allowing the worm to move forward under its own action. Once it reaches the bottom, it can be shaken in place to move the individual components, or given short hops before being allowed to backslide again, enabling presentations that keep movement to a minimum. Weighing approximately 10 g, it is easy to handle with both baitcasting and spinning tackle. Despite its 3-inch size, this model offers the volume characteristic of a hog-style worm along with a flattened body optimized for backsliding.
