Gary Yamamoto Heart Tail

Gary Yamamoto’s HEART TAIL is a swimbait worm that produces a wobble-roll action, combining wobbling and rolling throughout the body by taking advantage of the water-gripping and water-release characteristics of its heart-shaped tail. The 5-inch model is designed with a 6:4 balance of wobbling to rolling action. In the Japan Special model, non-salted material is used in the upper part of the body and salted material in the lower part to provide a stable swimming posture. A large belly slit allows greater flexibility when setting the hook.

The 3.5-inch model is not simply a scaled-down version of the 5-inch model; its tail and body profile were redesigned to suit its size. The smaller tail produces a fast-pitching, subtle tail action, while the flat body is designed to make it easier to maintain its posture while swimming and to stay nearly horizontal as it falls. Both models feature half-salted material and a belly slit. They are primarily suited for fishing just below the surface at a steady retrieve on a weightless rig. The standard hook sizes are 5/0-class offset hooks for the 5-inch model and 3/0–4/0 hooks for the 3.5-inch model. They can also be paired with swim jigs, Texas rigs, Carolina rigs, drop-shot rigs, as jig trailers, and as chatterbait trailers.
