Evergreen Eel Rig

EVERGREEN’s U-Nagi Rig is a lure component developed to make it easy to set up an eel rig using a long worm. There is no need to build a complicated, time-consuming rig from scratch. By positioning the hook near the center of the worm and setting the sinker offset from the front of the head, its design brings out the long worm’s hooking performance and unique action.

As the rig falls in a diagonal posture, the head catches water and produces a sensuous, writhing action. Along the bottom, it creates an action that appears to swim with a smooth, slithering motion. Its low-center-of-gravity design places the sinker outside and below the worm, helping it maintain a stable, back-up posture while also producing a movement that exposes the belly when it contacts cover. Because the worm’s head reaches the cover first, the sinker is less likely to become lodged in gaps between rocks and other obstacles.

To set up the rig, insert the hook through the worm’s head and bring it out near the center, then embed the wire and sinker-keeper eye inside the worm. Finally, bring the sinker-keeper eye out through the bottom of the worm, set the hook point, and attach the sinker. The M size is recommended with a #3/0 hook and a Bow Worm 8-inch High Buoyancy Model, while the L size is recommended with a #4/0 hook and a Bow Worm 12-inch High Buoyancy Model. The rig combines a swivel, sinker-keeper eye, wire fixing section, 55 lb PE leader, and a DECOY straight hook; the sinker must be prepared separately.
